A near 60 minute epic moment from cv313, a vintage trident desk, hands on effects, using the mixing board as the primary instrument. This is a lesson in Space & Bass, an intergalactic journey into areas unknown; sonic seduction. We'll let the music do the talking. Blessings from the most high, Jah Love...
The latest release from Rod Modell and Stephen Hitchell, collectively recording under the moniker cv313, is a single-track nearly hour-long piece, titled [the other side], which must be listened to completely, in its entirety, from start to finish, in a single sitting, walking, floating [fleeting?] moment. It evolves the way weather evolves, the way seasons rotate, the way cycles unfold. Slow waves of ethereal movements ebb and flow into your consciousness, like a black and white memory of a not-so-far distant past. Semi-chromatic white noise, near-luke warm dub chords, and sub bass, hang in the air like a dense, water-molecule-filled wall of sound, ready to drench every cell of your being, before a pleasant and perfect storm… and then the bass drops…
Before covering this latest echospace [detroit] release, I’ve listened to the album (as I always do) more than half a dozen times. It is my subsequent returns to the universe where cv313 paints its pensive murals that compel me to write all these words, and share with you all its beauty. The landscape of such minimal, yet vast elegance is alluring enough to spend most of your time, regardless of your mood, place or occasion. It feels like a rain forest, full of undiscovered species, where every note, although already familiar by the second rotation, appears to sound anew, like every single moment of your life, not matter how dull, repetitive and constant it appears from the outside, is ultimately different, and ultimately new. And whether this is just a scene that’s looping through a closed circuit, or an endless kaleidoscope in a gradient of sound, there are always mysteries and secrets on the other side…
